Over 9,000 Albertans sign against health care premium tax

Author: John Carpay 2005/04/11
EDMONTON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) today delivered another installment of petitions to abolish the health care premium tax to Premier Klein's office at the Legislature.

This delivery of petitions, with the signatures of 1,889 Albertans, adds to the 7,218 signatures already delivered to Premier Klein previously.

"This tax is deceptive, regressive and completely unnecessary," stated CTF-Alberta director John Carpay.

"It costs over thirteen million dollars each year just to collect this tax, and the money goes into general revenues just like every other tax. The Alberta government is already collecting more revenue per person than any other province, and doesn't need this extra tax revenue," concluded Carpay.
